At our Melanin On Market event we had the pleasure of having Chanelle and Chanda Reynolds of Double Portion as our special guests. Together these twins have embraced their spiritual journey and developed an app to help others along the way. So we had our Social Media Expert and blogger, Andrea Scott sit down with the ladies to tell us more on their iconic journey to stand out and up for Christ!

So everyone knows that lash extensions is one of the biggest trends right now, I personally like how they look but only got them once. For me they irritated my already itchy eyes and took out my natural lashes from frequent rubbing, so I decided to stick with my mascara and primer for long fabulous lashes until now...
November 24th, Melanin on Market came back full force on the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, celebrating black business and culture expo style at the Double Tree Hotel!
We loved how our icon, @tiacouture wore our new Bordeaux velvet georgia turban with an off the shoulder bell sleeve cop top and high waist jean. Throw on some glasses and you have an effortless yet iconic look!
Say yes to the re-dressBack in my stylist days, my number one rule was always "don't buy it if you can't think of at least three ways to wear it"! And now as I work more and more with brides, i wondered why can't that same rule apply with a wedding dress!
The beauty: connecting, activities, & moreEvery month I host an event called Melanin On Market to celebrate and support multicultural businessses! This month we focused on the beauty industry, entitled beauty and brains edition! We invited the best of the best in lashes/hair, makeup, and physical therapy as guest speakers, vendors, and sponsors! As guest arrived the first ten people also received a special gift from Cherné Altovise along with activities, games, and a special message to empower us to keep going! , I went with a subtle beauty and the beast theme with the decor, gifts, and notes using the red rose as my main inspiration. Everyone loves a good rose and just women poems have been written about them, they are a symbol of both love and strength, and unlike most flowers they can grow through anything- even concrete! Remind you of someone? A woman has the power to wear many hats and contrary to the standards society has put on us; it is our decision to be and do what we want.
SipEvery month I host an event called Melanin On Market to celebrate and support multicultural entrepreneurs in business, art, and more! This month we zeroed in on my fellow girl bosses for the ultimate networking experience for women in business with vendors, guest speakers, drinks, and more. Sometimes Becoming A Masterpiece Means Becoming A Work Of ArtAlthough I've been making and selling jewelry since a child, 2008 is when the journey of Cherné Altovise, the business really began. From my first wholesale orders of boxes, shopping bags, etc to designing my first collection and debuting it through my own runway shows; this is when I really started becoming the designer you see here today. At 18 years old that's a huge thing, but I never noticed I always just kept going and focusing on my goals. In college I held my head down, I lived off campus in my first apartment, and I worked all the time to pay my bills towards the end I even had two jobs. This never allowed me to even come close to becoming big headed, snobby, or anything else you may associate with girl bosses, artists, or entrepreneurs in general. Instead I had to do lists, goals and planners. Once a task was completely I checked it off and that goes for my jewelry orders, homework assignments, and washing dishes (well that's another story lol). I treated my business, school, work, and personal life all with the same priority. Seeing that long list never discouraged me because I always knew that I'm just one person and as long as I do one thing at a time, to the best of my ability, and in a timely manner it would all eventually get done.
Our annual holiday party for our customers is almost here and to honor ours and all other holiday parties we wanted to share some of our favorite helpful tips on how to be the perfect holiday party guest and scores double the invites next year! Dress for SuccessYou always want to look your best, but sometimes your idea of best doesn't fit the dress code so always pay attention to dress codes and language that set the mood of the event. For example our annual holiday event for our customers is called Bowties and Bangles this is a clear indication that although every man doesn't have to wear a bowtie that it is a cocktail type of event. And when all else fails ask the host its better to be safe than sorry. Remember life is like a fashion show and the world is your runway! Always show up to show out, and a piece of Cherné Altovise never made anyone pout 😉!
