By: Call Mi CocoaArtist, Stylist, Owner of Thrift Society It’s Fashion Week and designers are exhibiting their latest collections in stores, galleries and runways across the East Coast. From the parkway of Philadelphia to the runway in Manhattan the love of street style is sweeping the fashion industry. Don’t be fooled, street style is just about the clothes. We took CherneAltovise’s couture pieces to the streets to show you how to rev up your street style with Accessories for the Everyday Fashion Icon. First stop Afropunk in Brooklyn, NY. This eleven year festival is known for its eclectic fashions. They were most definitely alive and well at this alternative music festival full of vibrant styles with a specific focus on self-expression. We knew the looks would be off the charts so we had to come equally as fabulous. Obviously made to be the show stopper we came prepared to shine at Afropunk with the Serena Choker. Most definitely an attention grabber this choker was the perfect complement to the afrochic look we put together. Leather shorts, Floral printed tunic, and the oversized accent flowers on the choker were a great pairing for this festival. Add a black scarf and these jewels commanded attention for this cultural couturestreetwear look. Now if we are talking about the streets we can’t forget the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. Home to its on fashion week Philly is making a name for itself in the music and fashion industries alike. For that reason Made in America was definitely next on the list for the streetwear take over. MIA an up and coming music festival created by rap icon Jay Z hosted on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Honestly this festival has no specific focus on fashion at all with many patrons opting for simple red, white and blue ensembles but to be a true icon you must set the trend. We like our pieces to be versatile and this festival was most definitely no different. After all the festival is Made in America and Cherné Altovise is just that so we restyled this statement choker with pieces made here in America for a not so obvious themed look. White on white and a little bit of denim, the amazing Serena Choker made this street wear chic look perfect for the likes of festival headliner and fellow fashion icon Rihanna. Obviously, we couldn’t leave the streets without making our mark on one of New York Fashion Weeks’s biggest streetwear events of the summer the Essence Streetwear Block Party. Nestled under the Brooklyn Bridge this street festival’s guests most definitely came to slay, which is good because we did too. This festival was not doubt made for those who love the creativity that streetwear offers. An event made for the style mavens, and we most definitely had to come with a look unlike anyone else. Rocking an opened silk Chinese dress with a zippered front the rose gold Tangled Choker was the simple accent that was needed to bring this entire look together. Who said statement pieces had to be overstated, this choker was the perfect accent this elegant streetwear look needed to take it up another notch.
From the catwalk to the sidewalk, from Philadelphia to New York City. Cherné Altovise took over street style with winning combinations all summer. For more details on these streetwear looks check out stylist Call Mi Cocoa at TheThriftSociety.com
